How to use a Pomodoro timer on iPhone

A timer is most useful when you know what you want to do before it begins. This guide shows a simple way to use Bear Focus Timer for one study or work session, with a clear task and a real pause afterwards.

Choose a task small enough to finish

Write down one concrete action: read a chapter, draft an opening paragraph, or review a set of flashcards. “Study everything” is hard to act on; “review these ten cards” gives you a clear place to begin. Keep the materials you need within reach before starting.

Set focus time and break time

Open Bear Focus Timer and adjust the focus and break durations. For a first attempt, you could try 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest, or choose a shorter session for a small task. These are example settings, not a promise of better productivity. Choose a length you can comfortably try today.

Turn your iPhone face down

Place the phone face down to begin the focus session. The screen stays out of sight while you work. Use the optional forest-style white noise if it suits your setting. Keep working on the chosen task rather than checking how much time is left.

Give the break a purpose

When the session finishes, save the praise card if you like and take your planned break. Pause the task, get a drink, or simply look away from your materials. Before the next session, choose whether to continue the same task or start a new small one.

Adapt the routine to the work

Reading may fit a longer session; answering one email may need less time. If the task repeatedly spills over, make the next action smaller. A quick note about what you finished is enough to help you decide what to do next. Bear Focus Timer also supports focus and break timing on Apple Watch; alerts depend on device settings.
